Draw the object before making a cut list
Sketch the object from the front and side. Mark the outside dimensions and the space it must fit. Include the thickness of the material in your drawing.
Number the parts and record which dimensions depend on the joining method. Check the plan against the actual material rather than relying on a nominal size.
A drawing is a planning aid, not a safety procedure. Follow tool instructions and use an appropriate workholding setup when the project reaches the making stage.
